Fake News is a story on the internet that is not true. Fake news can appear on social media platforms and other websites and are often published to attract a lot of attention to a topic by getting many people to ‘share’ the story or direct people to a website.  Fake news is sometimes deliberately made up by people or groups, to deliberately mislead, or are stories that have not been thoroughly researched or fact checked.
