A series of numbers and letters displayed on the internet by an e-commerce store which gives a discount to a purchase at the check-out. A discount code may appear as a pop up message on a website in order to encourage a purchase at the store. There may be a time or date deadline to enter the code to receive the discount. A discount code may also be known as a ‘promo code’.
