The cut command deletes what you have highlighted from the original source and enables you to paste it somewhere else.

It ‘travels’ via a ‘clipboard’ where it is temporarily stored while moving from one document to another. It is possible to cut and paste text or images from emails to Word or from document to document. You are sometimes asked if you want to save what’s on your clipboard when you shut your computer down. If you have successfully pasted the data somewhere else, there is no need to save what’s on the clipboard.
