Warnings have been issued about bogus text and WhatsApp messages supposedly from a friend or family member asking for money. The messages come from a random number with a message along the lines of ‘Hi Mum, I dropped by phone and had to replace it….’ Or ‘Can you urgently help me I’m in trouble …’. This scam has been around for a while and is spreading from WhatsApp to appear as text messages. Do not click or transfer any money.
