With the return of students to higher education a warning has been issued about the potential circulation of phishing emails or texts at this time of year. Fraudsters posing as officials from the Student Loans Company (SLC), the Student Finance England (SFE) and other organisations such as the HRMC have targeted new and returning students in previous years. The SLC has warned for students to be on their guard as funding is released during the month and to avoid clicking on text messages or emails with ‘urgent action required’ or ‘failure to respond’ messages that could contain malware.
