There has been a surge in fake texts, emails and phone scams claiming to be from the HMRC. The message reports eligibility for a Government £519 tax refund for help towards COVID-19. The email, sent with official looking Government logos, asks the recipient to click on a link to access the rebate.
There have also been HMRC ‘alert’ text message scams offering coronavirus ‘goodwill payments’ of £258.
Both these scams are highly sophisticated and have genuine looking links which make them appear to be legitimate. They look very real so please beware. Just delete them.
