The Police Scotland Cybercrime Harm Prevention Unit have issued a warning for businesses to remain vigilant of scam emails. Known as Business Email Compromise (BEC) scams, these phishing email messages are a sophisticated way fraudsters are targeting businesses and their staff, and can be very difficult to spot. Tip: Be wary of any unusual and urgent requests for money or payment of invoices, supposedly from colleagues, unusual file download or login requests. BEC scams are usually sent from someone in your company you trust or have dealt with previously.
