Action Fraud have recently reported that there has been a spike in courier fraud. Courier fraud is when scammers impersonate banks or authority figures over the phone in an attempt to convince their targets to hand over money or valuables to a courier that has been sent to their homes. Currently, there has been a rise of scammers trying to persuade their victims to purchase high-value items (e.g. gold coins and gold bullion) which are then passed off to a courier.
