In Scotland there have been scams linked to the government’s contact tracing scheme, ‘Test and Protect’. The NHS will NEVER call a consumer asking for details.
The scam involves a cold caller claiming to be from the NHS, who reports that the consumer has been in contact with someone identified as having COVID-19. The bogus caller then asks for the consumer’s bank details to pay for testing kits.
